Adjust-A-Temp Heat Mats (Model CA)

Manufacturer:

The Adjust-A-Temp Heat Mats are superior quality mats that have a built-in three setting control switch for creating the temperatures you need for your reptile. The high quality integrated conductors in this mat are built for safety and are sealed into a heavy duty plastic shield. The shield is both water and rot resistant and can easily be mounted underneath or as a side mounted heat source.

These mats produce infrared heat similar to the sun that is uniform, consistent and dependable so that your reptile receives quality heat. The mats were originally designed to be used with glass cages and tanks and thus we have labeled the mats as such but because of the addition of the flexible three setting control system these mats can also be used with acrylic and some plastic cages (see comments below).

We have tested these mats with a number of plastic and acrylics, however, there are many types of plastics on the market so as with any type of heat source used on a plastic or acrylic cages there are some cautions and procedures that should be employed...

  • Instead of using the adhesive on the bottom of the mat and sticking it directly to the cage, apply foil tape or tin foil to the mat's adhesive and simply lay the mat under the cage
  • Initially, set the heat setting to the lowest level and increase only if needed
  • Keep a careful watch on your cage for the first few hours making sure that the mat is not too hot for the type of plastic your cage is made from or that the heat is not too high for your reptile
  • Use a good quality thermometer to measure the surface temperature inside your cage just above the heat mat's location
  • Install the rubber feet that come with the mats to allow room for the cord and for heat dissipation
